Aeolian processes play an important role in shaping these dunes. At the present time the Kelso Dunes are no longer accumilating sand. They are also only one of two dunes that sing or boom in California. I really wanted to show how expansive the 40 mile dune field is in this scene. The dunes here are one of the widest and expansive fields I've seen in California. There is a large spine that peaks at 650 ft near the southern edge of the dunes and it is so much to run and jump off the steep dunes.
