White Sand Blues

I wanted to capture the mood of twilight here at White Sands. This was shot the day after the full moon so I waited until right before the moon came up to capture the last bit of ambient sunlight and then the moon popped and took away the natural vignetting you see in this shot. Achieving an artistic look was what I was aiming for here.

I went to Guadalupe Mountains National Park a few years back it's such a beautiful Chihuahaun Desert landscape. Despite the heat of July it didn't get too hot and the high elevation canyons were nice and cool with the summer monsoon building above El Capitan Mountain (left) and Guadalupe Peak (Texas's highest peak). I camped out the day before leading small private workshop to scout the place out. Hope to return to it again sometime soon!!
